What does Hook analysis measure?

Hook uses the first 210 Unicode characters of your post (each styled letter counts as one character, not two UTF-16 units), then Unicode-normalises so bold/italic letters match like plain A–Z. Confession patterns recognise “I’ve” / “I have” with straight or curly apostrophes (e.g. U+2019). It labels a hook pattern and gives a strength score from 0–100. Patterns are checked in this order: confession, contrarian, question, story, then stat (so a listicle “3 …” in the title doesn’t override “I’ve seen …” in the opening). If none match, it shows “none”. A long single block with no blank line between paragraphs, at least 10 words, and more than 55 characters in the normalised post is flagged as a run-on “wall” (error). When a pattern is found, strength below 45 is a warning and below 25 is an issue; with no pattern, missing a hook is a warning unless the run-on rule applies.

What does Fold analysis measure?

Fold estimates whether your opening line fits common feed “above the fold” lengths on phones and larger views. InkMyPost takes the first line of your first paragraph (text before the first double line break), measures its length after Unicode normalisation, and compares it to a 210-character mobile fold and a 300-character desktop fold. You’ll see how many characters that line uses, whether it fits each fold, and “% of mobile fold”, which is that length as a percentage of 210 (capped at 100%). Longer than 210 is a warning; longer than 300 is an issue; within 210 is OK.

What does Density analysis measure?

Density checks paragraph length for mobile reading. Your post is split into paragraphs using blank lines (double newlines). Each block’s character count is compared to 195 characters—roughly three lines on a narrow (~375px) viewport. Any paragraph over that limit is counted as “dense”. The tile shows how many paragraphs are over the limit and the overall status is a warning if at least one paragraph exceeds 195 characters.

What does Style ratio measure?

Style ratio is the share of letters that use InkMyPost’s Unicode styling (bold, italic, monospace from the supported mathematical letter ranges) compared to plain ASCII A–Z and a–z. Only those two groups count toward the ratio; spaces, numbers, punctuation, and other symbols are ignored. The percentage shown in the app is styled letters divided by (styled + plain). If that ratio is above 20%, the status is a warning—meant as a nudge so emphasis stays readable.

What do OK, Warning, and Issue mean on the analysis tiles?

Each metric sets its own rules: OK is within the intended range, Warning suggests a tweak, and Issue highlights something stronger (for example, a very long opening line or very low hook strength). For an empty post, all metrics read as OK. Together, the app also derives an overall status from the strictest of the four.
